Repair Engineering Repairs are often required as a result of field conditions in new construction, for fire damage, problems revealed during the sale of a building, or as a result of increased loading due to tenant improvements. Check out our NEW websites for requesting repairs We provide engineering services for any engineered wood products, known as Structural Composite Lumber (SCL). These products include Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) & Parallel Strand Lumber (PSL). We also do repairs for Glulam, solid sawn lumber, solid sawn beams, posts and timbers. Metal Plate Connected
(MPC) trusses can often be repaired in the field using readily available
materials such as plywood and 2x4's. This can eliminate the need for costly
truss replacement or the addition of expensive MPC "frames".
I-Joists A common occurrence with
wooden I-Joists is the need for oversized holes to be added to the web
material. At other times the top or bottom flanges are notched for plumbing
or electrical runs. Most of these conditions can be repaired using combinations
of plywood, lumber and glue. Done properly the repair is stronger than
the original I-Joist, eliminating the need for replacement.
Wood Trusses Bolted timber trusses used in Commercial and Industrial buildings may fail for a number of reasons. We provide engineering to repair these truss failures. The design, connections, and repair methods will vary depending on the specific job conditions. We strive to produce a practical, structurally sound, and economically affordable repair. Damaged Beams Solid sawn, Glulam and other
engineered wood beams can be damaged in a number of ways: excessive loadings,
imperfections in fabrication, damage from forklifts, exposure to moisture
or chemicals, or fire damage. Damaged beams can be repaired in place using
tension rods and other methods, to restore the beam to its original strength
without the need for expensive replacement. |
